Arbor Day Celebration

Each year Wilmore recognizes the importance of trees and nature to our community with special Arbor Day activities such as tree plantings, seedling distributions, tree identification walks. Local children are invited to participate in exploring Town Creek and its critters, as well as mini workshops on rain gardens, flowers, pollinators, and other nature activities. Sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board.

Easter Egg Hunt

Wilmore’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is another fun, family event hosted by Wilmore Parks & Recreation and the City of Wilmore! Join other kids, ages 0-10, in hunting for candy and special prizes. The Easter Bunny usually makes a special appearance. Event held at Centennial Park.

Coaster Car Derby

Children and youth are invited to race down East Main Street in the Coaster Car Derby held in April. Two divisions are available: home built cars and kit cars. Participants, ages 7 and up, will take a thrill ride down the hill of East Main which will be closed to other traffic. Kids of all ages will enjoy this complicated but simple sport which is nearly 100 years old. This is a free event, thanks to local sponsorships.

MAIN STREET/CLEAN SWEEP

Volunteers are invited to help do a spring cleanup on Main Street and other locations in Wilmore. Participants will receive a special tee, necessary supplies, and a pizza lunch! Register by emailing jwoolums@wilmore.org.

WILMORE CABOOSE MUSEUM

Tour a 1950’s era Southern railway bayside caboose. View an extensive collection of railroad and local history artifacts, exhibits, photos and literature which tell the story of the Wilmore-High Bridge area . Open on most Saturdays from April through October, 10 a.m. to noon. Free admission. Sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board.

Farmers' Market

Shop fresh and shop local at the Jessamine County Farmers' Market located at the Wilmore City Hall Parking Lot each Saturday morning, 8 – 12 noon, from May through October. Fresh seasonal produce each week, along with vegetable and flower bedding plants, perennials, local honey and eggs, and freshly cut floral bouquets. Much of the produce is grown using organic practices.

Community Flower Sale

An annual event held from 8 – 12 noon at the Wilmore City Hall Parking Lot, the Community Flower Sale provides beautiful, healthy annuals, hanging baskets and ferns for sale at a reasonable price. Profits from the sale are used for other flower and beautification projects in Wilmore. Sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board.

18th Century Living History Day

History comes alive as you stroll along the creek with shady grove overhead, at the Servant Heart Farm adjacent to Wilmore’s Centennial Park. Experienced re-enactors in authentic period dress at over a dozen campsites will portray life on the frontier. Live period music will be presented, along with frontier wares for sale. While admission is free, donations will be accepted to help offset expenses of the re-enactors who are donating their time. Event opens at 10 a.m. and runs until dusk. Sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board and Servant Heart Farm.

Hometown Yard Sale

Shop till you drop at the Wilmore Hometown Yard Sale. Register your sale location to be included in all publicity and receive a participant packet with helpful hints and a flag/balloon/sign. There is no registration fee to participate. Sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board.

R J Corman 5 K Run

A challenging 5K road race through downtown Wilmore. This annual race is named in memory of a great supporter of Wilmore, Mr. R. J. Corman. Register early for a discount. Registration information will be available via the website closer to the race date.

Festival of the Fourth

Treats on Main

Bring out the kids for another fun-filled FAMILY event in Wilmore! Main Street in Wilmore will be blocked off and businesses, organizations and individuals will be handing out treats. There will be carnival type games and prizes as well. There is a fun costume contest at 7:30pm in the Pavilion at the Downtown Green. Local organizations, groups and individuals are invited to participate by handing out treats or running a game. Please contact Wilmore Parks & Recreation (wilmoreparks@gmail.com) to sign up. Window Painting on Main Street

Volunteers gather on these days to decorate storefront windows of the downtown merchants for Christmas. All ages and skill levels are invited and all supplies are furnished.
